FFXIV Bard Guide: In-Depth Bard Class Guide with Quests and More

FFXIV Bard Guide

Bard is one of the jobs that players can opt to pursue within A Realm Reborn. Traditionally, bards are often thought of as singers that would bring merry good times to local pubs and taverns but they were also used as a tool in war. Bards were capable of singing songs that would improve moral and focus among warriors. That is exactly how the role is used in-game.

Players can become a bard by reaching level 30 in the Archer class and level 15 in the Pugilist class. Once you’ve accomplished this you can visit Quivers Hold and speak with guildmaster who will assign you the quest called Soul of the Bard which, upon completion, allows you to become a bard.

NOTE: The primary stat that amplifies that capabilities of the bard is dexterity (DEX).

Bard Skills and Traits

In this section of our FFXIV Bard guide we’ll discuss the various abilities and traits players will have access to upon taking up the Bard job.

Upon becoming a Bard you will receive a few extra skills to compliment the ones you already possess as an Archer. Pretty much all of these skills are designed to give your character abilities that would partially classify you as a support or healing role.

You’ll still have access to all of your ranged & AoE DPS skills but you’ll also have access to these:

  • Mage’s Ballad
  • Foe Requiem
  • Army’s Paeon
  • Rain of Death
  • Battle Voice
  • The Wanderer’s Minuet
  • Empyreal Arrow
  • Iron Jaws
  • The Warden’s Paean
  • Sidewinder

These skills make this job very attractive to players that wish to be able to deal tons of damage but still be a great support player for their party by buffing allies and debuffing enemies.

FFXIV Level 50 Bard

As an Archer you should have already completed the class-specific quests as you leveled your way to 30. Once you take up the role of the Bard you’ll be given a new set of job-specific quests. These quests will acquaint you with your new skills and also teach you different songs that you can use.

Here is the full list of bard quests:

  • A Song of Bards and Bowmen (level 30)
  • The Archers Anthem (level 35)
  • Bards Eye View (level 40)

  • A Relic Reborn (level 50)
  • Requiem for the Fallen (level 50)

The first of these new job quests will be given to you by the Archer Guilds guildmaster, Luciane, but the majority of the rest will be issued to you by Jehantel.
