Black Ops 2 Player Given Ban and Major Stats Blow for Prestige Glitching

In every Call of Duty game to date there have been waves of players who try to cheat the system and earn experience, prestige ranks and more illegitimately. Black Ops 2 is no exception to this exploitation. Some players have found ways to boost their numbers with frowned upon practices and others have discovered prestige glitches that allow lobbies of gamers to receive high prestige ranks with little or no effort.

 BO2 Banhammer

These exploits destroy the purpose of the game and ruin it for other players as well. And while it is difficult for developers to keep up with countless number of cheaters in the game, they do crack down hard when they find them. This is especially true for one particular BO2 gamer who recently received not only a 6 day ban from the game but also had his stats heavily edited to significantly drop his kill-to-death ratio, his overall rank and his win-to-loss ratio.

A thread created by a friend of this player is on BlackOps2Forum.com  and goes into further detail of the situation:

My friend did the prestige glitch and got banned and then some:

6 days banned from the game
Rank reset to 0
Gave him 10,000 deaths
1000 loses
k/d ratio of 0.01 (yes you read that right)

That is what you call a ban hammer son!!!! lol

UPDATED: Today, Saturday 1-19, So my friend prestiged and it wouldn’t let him reset his stats!!! And he couldn’t use the tolken. Apparently disabled…lol
UPDATE #2: Sunday 1-20, Couldn’t reset his stats after prestiging, so bodes the question: Do you think his stats is perma banned or just for so long?? He seems to think just until he gets back to level he glitched to — prestige 6– What do you guys think…
UPDATE #3: Tue 1-22, Got his second prestige and still couldn’t reset his stats using the tolken, could be a perma stat ban or time locked for a certain time period. (1 month, 2 months, etc).

While some may consider the actions taken by Treyarch staff to be a bit harsh, others applaud their efforts and twisted sense of humor. In order for this player to even make a comeback to a position kill-to-death ratio of 1.00 will take ages. 10,000 deaths is nothing to scoff at. Neither is 1,000 losses.

Gamers caught using any form of cheating whether it be hacking, glitching, boosting or whatever else shouldn’t be surprised to see such bans occur from their actions. The support page on the Activision website outlines their policies regarding cheating in Black Ops 2 very well:

Boosting

Any user who colludes with another user to exploit the game for the purpose of gaining XP, prestige, game score, weapon level, or in-game unlock is subject to penalty.

  • First offense: User will be temporarily banned from playing the game online, will have their stats & emblems reset, and will have their leaderboard entries deleted.
  • Second offense: User will be temporarily banned from playing the game online, will have their stats & emblems reset, will have online split-screen privileges revoked, and will have their leaderboard entries deleted.
  • Extreme or multiple repeat offenses: User will be permanently banned from playing the game online, will have their stats & emblems reset, and will be blocked permanently from appearing in leaderboards.

Glitching

Any user who abuses an exploit in game code or other established rule of play is subject to penalty. An example includes but is not limited to using a hole in the map geo to intentionally go outside of the map boundary.

  • Extreme or multiple repeat offenses: User will be permanently banned from playing the game online, will have their stats & emblems reset, and will be blocked permanently from appearing in leaderboards

All in all, this particular player got what was coming to him. Gamers that use these unconventional methods of leveling up and earning ranks in games run the risk of being temporarily, or permanently, banned. Bravo, Treyarch and Activision for at least attempting to dilute the number of cheaters in BO2.
