Black Ops 2 MTAR Objective Class Setup

Today we begin our class recommendation series for the assault rifles in Black Ops 2. There are a total of 9 different ARs. Each one has its own strengths and weaknesses. For the first loadout we’re going to start with the MTAR. This class is primarily meant for objective based gametypes and for players who like to sit back and pop off enemies from a medium distance. The gun isn’t incredibly powerful so it’s not great for aggressive, confrontational gameplay.

Here’s the full class setup video:

Primary Weapon

Black Ops 2 MTAR
The MTAR, as mentioned in the video above, isn’t necessarily the best AR in the game but it’s still a pretty solid weapon. It doesn’t deal high damage but it’s very accurate and, when used correctly, pretty effective for helping to hold down objective points in gametypes like Hardpoint, Domination, Demolition, and Headquarters.

Recommended Attachments: Hybrid Optic, Extended Clip, Laser Sight (must use the Primary Gunfighter wildcard to obtain all 3 attachments for this class)

The Hybrid Optic seems to be a very seldom used sight in BO2 but its actually pretty decent for most ARs. The reflex sight on it is great for close to mid range encounters, especially once you unlock the blue dot for it, it just makes it easier to target enemies. The other scope (the more zoomed in one) can be used for long distance gun fire. If you have to kill an enemy at long distance, be sure to manually burst shot with the MTAR to ensure proper accuracy and damage is dealt.

Extended Clip is recommended for this loadout simply because the MTAR takes quite a few shots to get a kill with. So having extra ammo on hand is definitely a must. The Laser Sight is best used for when enemies pop up right in your face and you don’t have the time to look down your sights.

We will not be using a secondary weapon with this class setup.

Perks

Tier 1 – Hardline. You won’t always get a ton of kills using the MTAR but you can rack up assist points and objective kill points. But to make it easier to get your scorestreaks we recommend using hardline. This just makes it to where scorestreaks require less points to obtain.

Tier 2 – Toughness. When you’re shooting at enemies in medium to long range battles (when you’re looking down your sights the entire time) your gun will bounce a little bit even though the MTAR has little recoil. Toughness helps to reduce the bounce so you can aim better.

Tier 3 – Tactical Mask or Extreme Conditioning. This one really depends on how you plan to play. Extreme conditioning can help you get around the outskirts of objectives faster to get in position to defend or attack. Tactical Mask, on the other hand, will help you avoid the effects of annoying things like flashbangs and shock charges which can be pretty useful too.

Equipment Picks

Lethal – Frag Grenade (to toss on objectives to either get a kill or at least take down enemy shields)

Tactical – EMP Grenade (to eliminate enemy C4, bouncing betty, shock charge, etc)

Scorestreaks

Tier 1 – UAV (to give you eyes on enemies to take them out better)

Tier 2 – Counter UAV (to conceal you and your teammates from enemy eyes and gain more assist points)

Tier 3 – Sentry Gun (to place in strategic areas to stop enemies from taking objectives, gain kills, and earn more points)

And that’s it for our first assault rifle class setup! We’ve got 8 more AR classes coming your way for you guys to try out in BO2. Be sure to look out for them!
